Our School Saint: St Thérèse of Lisieux

"Do the Little Things Well"

St Teresa's Catholic Primary School is named after St Thérèse of Lisieux, one of the most loved and influential saints of the Catholic Church.

Born in France in 1873, St Thérèse devoted her life to God and became known throughout the world for her simple yet profound spirituality, which she called The Little Way.

Unlike many saints, St Thérèse did not believe that holiness was only achieved through extraordinary acts. Instead, she taught that every person can grow closer to God through small acts of love, kindness and service carried out with great love.

She wrote:

"Love proves itself by deeds. The only way I can prove my love is by scattering flowers and these flowers are every little sacrifice, every glance and word, and the doing of the least actions for love."

Her message reminds us that every action matters and that even the smallest acts of kindness can help transform the world around us.

Living the Little Way at St Teresa's

The Little Way is at the heart of our school.

It shapes how we learn, how we pray, how we serve others and how we treat one another each day.

Inspired by St Thérèse, we encourage our children to:

  • Live out the Gospel in their daily lives.

Through prayer, worship, Religious Education, Catholic Social Teaching and charitable outreach, our children learn that small actions carried out with great love can make a significant difference.
