Welcome to Reception

Our teacher is Mrs Riley

"Since I was a little girl I always knew I wanted to become a teacher! I love working in Early Years. I love to sing, dance, discover and read stories with the boys and girls. My favourite story is The Gruffalo. I love spending time with my little boy, helping him to discover the world around him and going on adventures with my family.  We love visiting new places and having lots of fun!! I enjoy running, going to the gym and baking yummy treats!"

We are supported in our learning by Miss Atkinson – "I enjoy walking with my family at the local beaches. I do love the occasional game of bingo with my mam. I like to watch dancing and football."

We have launched our personal, social and emotional development (PSED) programme with our Reception children and they have really enjoyed learning about the colour monster.

As part of this programme, we intend to:

  • send links to stories we have read in class and links to other books you might also like to read with your child to support skill development

  • send home ideas for you to share

  • provide a list of helpful websites and apps

  • In the summer term, we would like you to watch two online webinars to learn about play based learning and at the end of the Reception year, we will invite you to join your children in a little celebration.

Each week there will be a story to share, short tasks as we work towards our goals. PSED EYFS

Children can wear their school PE kits all day on PE days. It is important that children arrive to school in their PE kit (white/purple t-shirt, blue/black shorts/joggers and warm blue/black top and trainers). Remember that there should be no earrings worn on PE days. Please check your child’s name is visible in all items of clothing.

Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday.
