Welcome to Year 3

Our teacher is Miss Hoskins. – Miss Hoskins enjoys spending free time with family and friends, especially her younger brother, Charlie. She enjoys cooking and going for long nature walks on sunny days. Miss Hoskins wants to spend the upcoming years travelling around the world during the holidays. She has already travelled around a lot of America but believes there is still so much to see! Miss Hoskins loves watching Disney movies and her favourite quote is from UP… “Adventure is out there”. Simple but meaningful!

News and Events in Year 3

Black History Month

We really enjoyed creating art work based around the Olympic gold medalist Jesse Owens. We created a portrait of Jesse using water colours and made our own clay gold medals!

Remembrance Day

We remembered those who lost their lives during the wars and the sacrifices they made.

Children In Need

We raised money for Children in Need by dressing up in Pudsey clothing! We also took part in a Pudsey quiz and completed various Children in Need activities throughout the day.

Hoopstarz!

We had lots of fun learning how to hula hoop. We were taught lots of new tips and tricks and even made igloos using our hoops.

Design and Technology

We really enjoyed designing and creating pneumatic toys during our design and technology lessons. We followed a design criteria, made sure we worked safely and evaluated our designs.

Christmas

We had lots of fun during the build up to Christmas. We performed our Christmas show, made cards and advent wreaths, had a party, posted our letters to Santa and even took part in a fun run!

Biscuit Tasting

Before making our own biscuits, we taste tested a variety of biscuits already on the market. We thought about their appearance, texture, taste and packaging. Our favourite biscuit was the custard cream!

The Iron Man

In English, we are reading The Iron Man. Before we began reading, we looked at a variety of metal objects and made predictions about what might happen in the story. We are really enjoying the story so far and have wrote some excellent narratives, Kenning poems and produced some fantastic artwork.

Geography

The children have been learning what measures can be put in place to prepare for an earthquake. The children created structures that would be able to withstand an earthquake and practised what they would need to do if they heard an earthquake alarm.

Computing

We have been learning all about computer programming. We have been using the programme Scratch.
