Welcome to Year 3/4

Mrs Ward is our teacher – I love singing and playing guitar (I also play ukulele), so I love teaching Freddie lots of nursery rhymes. My other hobbies include: running, reading, knitting, crocheting and baking. My favourite children’s book is Anne of Green Gables, but I easily get lost in any book. I’m currently in the middle of watching the Marvel films in order – Ant-Man is my favourite character. I also enjoy listening to podcasts, especially history podcasts – I recommend: Homeschool History.

News and Events in Year 3/4

Visit from ‘The Niece of Perecles’ (Ancient Greece)

We loved our Ancient Greece afternoon! We learnt all about amazing artefacts and primary sources, heard some gory stories and even tried on some Ancient Greek clothing.

World Book Day

This World Book Day coincided with our Computing lesson, where we created vector drawings of our favourite book characters.

Forest School

We went on a bug hunt during our forest school visit from Emma. We couldn’t believe the number the creatures we found in our school playground.

Stay and Play – Making Medusa

Our parents came in for a Stay and Play session where we listened to the story of Medusa and then made a clay model of her. We’re very proud of  everyone’s efforts and they’re displayed outside our classroom.

Fraud Investigators

We had a visit from Anna Marie from NatWest Bank. She led us through a series of activities to help us understand a range things a fraudster might do.

Black History Month

We created portraits of the famous singer Aretha Franklin. We enjoyed learning about her life and listening to her music.

Ancient Egyptian Mummies

We enjoyed learning about Ancient Egypt in our history lessons. We then worked together to mummify a tomato using the same process they would have used thousands of years ago!

World Cup

We celebrated the world cup by looking at the different countries taking part which we linked to our Geography, we watched the first England game in school and then celebrated together as a class.

Children in Need

We celebrated Children in Need with a sponsored non – uniform day and activities within the classroom. We discussed the importance of Children in Need and where the donation money goes.

Remembrance Day

We held a 2 minute silence on Remembrance Day and completed some art work remembering those who fought in the World Wars. We went outside to the peace garden with our artwork to think about Remembrance Day.
